BECOME A LABOR CANDIDATE

When union members run, working families win. Path to Power is a project of the AFL-CIO Political Department to identify, recruit, and elect union members to run for local government offices. The purpose is to shift the power in local government to favor stronger pro-worker policies and develop a bench of candidates to move into higher office.

In 2023, we sent over 20,000 pieces of mail to union households in Cuyahoga, Lake, and Geauga counties and developed web advertisements seen by over 240,000 people on behalf of and at no cost to our Path to Power candidates. Path to Power candidates are eligible for special pricing on robocalls and phone banking as well.
