JOIN YOUR CENTRAL LABOR COUNCIL

When workers join together in a union, they can fight to ensure that all members are treated fairly, with decent paychecks and benefits, safe jobs, dignity, and equal opportunity. When unions come together locally through their Central Labor Council (CLC), they mobilize across sectors and industries for contract disputes, municipal and school district elections, tax levies, and important legislative issues. By joining together through CLCs, we can achieve economic stability, family-sustaining wages, and a brighter future for everyone.

THE AFL-CIO AND CLCS

CLCs assist in furthering the objectives of the AFL-CIO and its 57 national and international unions - including yours.

SHARING INFORMATION

CLCs serve as a means of exchanging information among affiliated public and private-sector local unions on matters of common interest.

BUILDING SOLIDARITY

CLCs provide aid, cooperation, and assistance to affiliated local unions in their common and individual endeavors, including contract disputes and politics.

PROMOTING GOOD POLICY

CLCs propose, support, and promote legislation favorable to and opposes legislation detrimental to the interests of workers and organized labor.

VOTING AND POLITICS

CLCs encourage workers to register and vote, exercise their full rights and responsibilities of citizenship, and perform their rightful part in political life.

By joining your CLC, you can ensure your members have a voice in the labor movement and that you have strength in numbers when it matters most! For more information and to affiliate, email Brian Pearson at bpearson@clevelandaflcio.org.
