The Ohio AFL-CIO's annual Workers' Compensation Institute will be held Monday, March 20th through
Thursday, March 23rd 2023, at The Hilton Downtown Columbus, 401 N. High St. Columbus, OH 43215.
There will be a FULL day Thursday, but no Friday class.
The registration for the Institute will be $300 per participant. This fee will help cover the cost of
materials including the manual, coffee breaks and banquet. The registration fee should accompany the
enclosed registration form. Please make your check payable to the Ohio AFL-CIO and mail it to the Ohio
AFL-CIO Workers' Compensation Institute, 500 South Front St., Suite 1100, Columbus, Ohio 43215.
We have made arrangements with the hotel to set aside a block of rooms for persons who will be
attending the Institute.
***The Institute will convene at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, March 20 and every day for the remainder of
the school. There will be a block of rooms set aside starting on Sunday night, through Friday. The
Institute will adjourn around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday ***

When making your reservation, please use the group code to identify yourself as being with the
Ohio AFL-CIO. Room rates are $199 +tax per night. Overnight parking is $36 per night.
Please keep in mind that the room cut-off date is February 23, 2023. We suggest you make your hotel
reservation as early as possible.
Although the handling and processing of workers' compensation claims may not be difficult, it does
require training. The following is an example of classes being offered:
Filing a claim (temporary total; permanent partial award; permanent total award)
Occupational disease
Mock hearings and lump sum settlements
Rehabilitation and Industrial Commission issues
Advanced classes, with one being for public sector safety workers (fire and police)
Advanced registration using the enclosed registration form is strongly recommended, although
registration can be done on site. Check in for all registrants will be held Sunday, March 19th from 5:00
6:00 p.m. and Monday, March 20th beginning at 8:00 a.m. The Institute will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m.
each morning. If you do not have a rep ID or do not have access to Dolphin/ICON, someone will assist you
during registration. All you will need is your local union's federal tax ID, mailing address and zip code. We
