(Cleveland, Ohio) – The North Shore AFL-CIO – Ohio’s largest central labor council representing over 100,000 union workers in greater Cleveland – has voted unanimously to endorse retired labor leader Terence M. McCafferty for a full term on the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections. McCafferty was appointed by acclamation to fill the remainder of an unexpired term this past June, and the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party’s Central Committee will meet again soon to appoint a Democratic member for a full term.

“We have long been proud that this particular seat on the Board of Elections has traditionally been held by an area labor leader,” said Dan O’Malley, Executive Secretary of the North Shore AFL-CIO. “Terry McCafferty is a perfect choice to continue that tradition of service.”

McCafferty previously served in various leadership positions with Pipefitters Local 120 in Cleveland, most recently as the union’s Business Manager and Financial Secretary-Treasurer. Until his retirement from Local 120 he also served as a vice president of the North Shore AFL-CIO.

“Terry’s integrity, work ethic, thoughtfulness, and commitment to Democratic principles have already shined during his first six months in this role,” O’Malley said. “Cuyahoga County voters will continue to benefit from Terry’s leadership in the years to come, and we are proud to support him for a full term on the Board of Elections.”

The North Shore AFL-CIO Federation of Labor is Ohio’s largest central labor council and the organized voice for 100,000 working people in Cuyahoga, Lake, and Geauga counties. Over 150 local unions are affiliated with our labor federation. We represent workers from bus drivers to steelworkers, public servants to grocery workers, rocket scientists at NASA and world-renowned orchestra musicians.
