The North Shore AFL-CIO Federation of Labor is the organized voice for more than 80,000 working people across Cuyahoga, Lake, and Geauga counties. 150 local unions are affiliated with our federation, representing workers across every sector of the economy—including public employees, healthcare workers, educators, service workers, building trades, transit workers, musicians, letter carriers, professional athletes, and more.
As one of nearly 500 state and local labor councils chartered by the AFL-CIO, we bring unions together to strengthen worker power, support organizing, advocate for pro-worker policies, and improve the lives of working families throughout Northeast Ohio.

The North Shore AFL-CIO brings unions together to build collective strength across Northeast Ohio. We support affiliated unions during organizing drives, contract campaigns, strikes, bargaining fights, and community actions. By coordinating resources, sharing expertise, and standing together in solidarity, we strengthen the power of working people throughout our region.

We serve as a hub for communication, education, and collaboration among affiliated unions. Through meetings, trainings, digital communications, and strategic coordination, we help unions stay informed and connected. By sharing knowledge, organizing strategies, and legislative updates, we equip our affiliates with the tools they need to successfully advocate for their members and grow the labor movement.

The labor movement has always played a vital role in strengthening our communities. The North Shore AFL-CIO supports food drives, disaster relief efforts, community partnerships, workers’ rights campaigns, and programs that improve the lives of working families. We believe strong unions help build strong communities, and we are committed to advancing economic opportunity and dignity for all workers.
ADVOCATING FOR WORKERS
The North Shore AFL-CIO advocates for policies that protect workers’ rights, strengthen unions, raise wages, improve workplace safety, and expand access to healthcare and retirement security. We work with elected officials, community partners, and labor allies to advance legislation that benefits working families while opposing efforts that weaken collective bargaining and worker protections.
VOTING & POLITICAL ACTION
Working people deserve a strong voice in our democracy. The North Shore AFL-CIO educates, mobilizes, and engages union members in the political process through voter registration, member education, endorsements, and grassroots campaigns. We work to elect leaders who support workers’ rights and hold elected officials accountable to the needs of working families.
BUILDING A STRONGER ECONOMY
The North Shore AFL-CIO works to create an economy that values workers and expands opportunity throughout Northeast Ohio. As a founding member of the United Labor Agency, we support workforce development, economic growth, and policies that create good union jobs. Through coalition-building and regional partnerships, we help strengthen industries, support working families, and promote long-term economic stability across our communities.
