ABOUT US
The North Shore Federation of Labor is a regional labor council representing a coalition of unions and workers in Greater Cleveland, advocating for fair wages, workplace rights, and a dignified retirement.
The North Shore AFL-CIO Federation of Labor (Cleveland) is the organized voice for 80,000 working people in Cuyahoga, Lake and Geauga counties. Nearly 150 local unions are affiliated with our labor federation. We represent workers from bus drivers (and mechanics) to steelworkers, from public sector workers to grocery workers, world-renowned orchestra musicians and even the 53-man roster of the Cleveland Browns.
We are one of nearly 500 state and local labor councils of the AFL-CIO and are the heart of the labor movement. We are a democratically elected body dedicated to represent the interests of working people at the local level. We mobilize our members and community partners to advocate for social and economic justice and we strive daily to vanquish oppression and make our communities better for all people.
BUILDING SOLIDARITY
The North Shore AFL-CIO stands as a powerful force for solidarity, uniting local unions and affiliates with unwavering support. We provide strategic aid, foster strong collaboration, and rally behind our unions in every fight—whether collective or individual. With a commitment to strength through unity, we amplify worker voices, fuel bold initiatives, and ensure every union has the resources and backing needed to win. Together, we don’t just support labor—we advance it, shaping a future where workers thrive and justice prevails.
SHARING INFORMATION
The North Shore AFL-CIO is a hub of knowledge and power, connecting affiliated unions to share vital information, strategies, and insights. We don’t just exchange ideas—we ignite action, ensuring every union is equipped with the latest tactics, resources, and information needed to win. By uniting voices and experiences, we strengthen our collective fight for fair wages, better working conditions, and a dignified retirement. Together, we transform information into action, building a stronger, more powerful labor movement.

ADVOCATING FOR GOOD POLICY
The North Shore AFL-CIO is a fierce champion for working people, driving the fight for pro-labor legislation and confronting attacks on workers’ rights. We don’t just support good policies—we demand them, rallying union power to push forward laws that protect wages, strengthen benefits, and expand worker protections. When anti-labor forces threaten our rights, we mobilize, organize, and fight back. With relentless advocacy and bold action, we ensure that workers’ voices are heard in every legislative battle, shaping policies that put working families first.
VOTING & POLITICS
The North Shore AFL-CIO fires up workers to take charge of their future—registering, voting, and making their voices impossible to ignore. We empower working people to be a force in local, state, and national politics, ensuring pro-labor candidates win and anti-worker policies lose. Democracy thrives when workers lead, and we mobilize every vote to protect our rights, strengthen our unions, and build a future that puts working families first. When labor votes, workers win—and we make sure every union member is ready to fight at the ballot box.
BUILDING A BALANCED ECONOMY
The North Shore AFL-CIO strives to build a better economy, championing working families with leadership and bold action. As a founding member of the United Labor Agency, we unite forces to create jobs, raise wages, and drive sustainable growth that benefits everyone. Through strategic advocacy and dynamic coalition-building, we push for policies that level the playing field and unlock economic opportunities for all workers. When labor leads the way, we transform challenges into progress, forging a robust, inclusive economy that truly works for every community member.
