Ohio AFL-CIO Issues Endorsements, Approves Our Recommendations — Including 6 Union Members

On February 13, the Ohio AFL-CIO Executive Board met and issued key endorsements for the 2026 election cycle. The board endorsed Amy Acton and David Pepper for Governor and Lt. Governor, Sherrod Brown for U.S. Senate, John Kulewicz for Attorney General, and Jennifer Brunner for the Ohio Supreme Court.

At our recommendation, Local 17 Iron Worker Brian Poindexter was endorsed for Congress in District 7, along with Shontel Brown in District 11. The board also endorsed Kent Smith (SD 21), Bride Sweeney (SD 23), Tristan Rader (HD 13), Sean Brennan (HD 14), Chris Glassburn (HD 15), Scott DiMauro (HD 16), Davida Russell (HD 18), Nicole Sigurdson (HD 19), Eric Synenberg (HD 21), Darnell Brewer (HD 22), and Dan Troy (HD 23).

Several endorsed candidates have strong labor ties, including former OEA members Sean Brennan and Scott DiMauro; OAPSE member Davida Russell; SEIU District 1199 staffer Nicole Sigurdson; and former SMART Local 33 member Dan Troy.
