Labor 2025 Election Results
Union power was on full display in this year’s election, with over 80% of North Shore AFL-CIO–endorsed candidates winning and several key races still too close to call.
Union members and allies once again proved that when we stand together, working people win. Among the highlights:
- Tom Dufour (Carpenters) and Brian Poindexter (Iron Workers Local 17) were re-elected to the Brook Park City Council.
- John Soeder (Laborers Local 310) won a full term on Parma City Council.
- Kevin Tanski, a retired ATU Local 268 member, secured re-election to the Brooklyn City Council.
- Avery Johnson, a retired OAPSE member, won in Garfield Heights.
- Chad Gluss, a former IAFF firefighter, will be the new Mayor of Olmsted Falls.
- Mike Kan (AFSCME) retained his seat on Solon City Council.
- Todd LeVeck, a former AFT member, earned a seat on Westlake City Council.
- In the Berea School Board races, Rick Mack and Ana Chapman, retired AFT members, both won re-election.
- Maggie Cook (OEA) retained her seat on the Mentor School Board, joined by Robert Haag (OEA), who won a new seat.
- In North Royalton, seven endorsed candidates were victorious so far, and Issue 25 failed—a clean sweep for working people.
These victories reflect the strength and solidarity of union members across Greater Cleveland. Together, we’re building worker power at every level of government.
