Standing Together for Working People

The North Shore AFL-CIO unites nearly 150 local unions and 80,000 working people across Greater Cleveland.
Together, we build power for working families, strengthen our communities, and make sure the voices of working people are heard at every level—on the job, in city hall, in Columbus, and beyond.

When unions stand together, we win for all working people.

Advancing Our Shared Goals

We bring national AFL-CIO priorities to life locally—fighting for dignity on the job and justice in our communities.

In Action:

  • Mobilized members to defend collective bargaining rights and stop anti-union legislation.
  • Partnered with AFL-CIO campaigns to expand organizing rights and protect prevailing wage.
  • Supported solidarity actions during the UAW Stand Up Strike and Teamsters contract campaigns.

Building Solidarity and Sharing Knowledge

The Federation is where unions connect—sharing strategies, information, and support to strengthen each other’s work.

In Action:

  • Monthly delegate meetings across trades, public, and service sectors.
  • Working Class Conversations—our roundtable series linking members and candidates to real issues facing working families.
  • Legislative and organizing briefings to keep affiliates informed on key developments.

A Partner When You Need One

Affiliation means your local isn’t alone. We’re here with resources, staff support, and solidarity.

In Action:

  • Communications, digital, and strategy help for contract fights and organizing drives.
  • Coordinating rallies, media coverage, and solidarity actions for striking workers.
  • Connecting affiliates with AFL-CIO and community resources when challenges arise.

Fighting for Pro-Worker Legislation

We give working people a voice in government—pushing for fair wages, safe workplaces, and strong public services.

In Action:

  • Advocating for fair state budgets, public sector bargaining rights, and infrastructure investment.
  • Opposing anti-worker bills like Senate Bill 83 and Senate Bill 50.
  • Supporting union-endorsed candidates—and holding them accountable once in office.

Empowering Union Voters

Our voter engagement programs help union members make their voices count every election.

In Action:

  • Voter registration, early vote, and GOTV outreach every election cycle.
  • Slate card distribution reaching thousands of union households.
  • Candidate forums and education sessions to ensure informed choices at the ballot box.
