Join Us for RiverSweep – Protecting Our River, Building Our Community
Since 1989, RiverSweep has brought together thousands of volunteers to protect the Cuyahoga River by removing litter and illegal dumping from the river corridor. With more than 1.5 million pounds of trash and over 25,000 tires collected, RiverSweep is more than just a cleanup—it's a powerful example of what collective action can achieve.
The North Shore AFL-CIO is proud to support RiverSweep because this effort aligns with our mission to strengthen communities, protect working people, and fight for a cleaner, more just future.
We encourage our affiliates, union members, and families to volunteer for this one-day cleanup and be part of 35 years of meaningful change. It's a hands-on way to live our union values: solidarity, service, and community power.
Volunteer registration is open now!
Choose a cleanup location from sites across Cleveland and Cuyahoga County. Volunteers will receive gloves, trash bags, and a RiverSweep t-shirt (while supplies last). Bring water and a trash picker if needed.
Let’s clean up, build up, and show the power of labor in action.
